Verona 19 May 2015 – The show that inaugurated the world will officially open the 2015 edition of the Scaliger Bible Festival on Thursday 21 May, at 8.30 p.m., on the stage of the Teatro Nuovo, where “In principio…(Gen. 1,1)” – Interactions on Genesis – will be staged. Three scenes and an epilogue.
A scenic reading in several voices, from the Book of Genesis (Gen.1, 1-5: And there was light; Gen. 1, 26-31: Male and female he created them; Gen. 3, 1-15: Adam, where are you?) and from the book of Proverbs (chapter 8), which will see a Rabbi (for the reading in Hebrew and the theological commentary), a Protestant pastor (for the reading in German and commentary), a linguist (for the reading in Latin), a biblical scholar (for the theological-Catholic commentary) take turns in the ideal composition of three “pictures” and an “epilogue” on creation. Four moments that will tell the story of creation (the guiding theme of the 2015 Biblical Festival, which invites us to “Care for Creation, Cultivate the Human”), in the language that best knows how to bring man closer to his Creator, touching his deepest chords, namely art in all its forms: words, music, images.
Each reading, also translated into Italian, will in fact be enriched by a theological or philosophical commentary and a musical commentary by Mantuan pianist Stefano Gueresi, famous for his descriptive music (his musical pieces are used for the documentaries of the television programme “Bell’Italia”, broadcast every week on Rai 3).
To illustrate the four scenes, famous artistic images on creation will be projected by Karis – Diocesan Service for the Pastoral Care of Art.
The show, organised by Alteritas-Interazione tra i popoli (Alteritas-Interaction between Peoples), based in the Episcopal Seminary in Verona, is directed by actor Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri. The readings in Italian are by the actors of the Incipit ReadingLab in Milan.
“With this event,” explains Simona Marchesini, scientific coordinator of Alteritas, “we are also inaugurating a new path of study on music, a universal language of the soul, in its interaction with cultural traditions of different peoples.
